If a “musical enlightenment and psychedelic renaissance” sounds good to you on this Friday then follow us…Ross From Friends has a brilliant new video for the track “Epiphany” off his 12″ of the same name out today on Brainfeeder. This past July we checked out the track “The Revolution” off the EP and its’ soulful strut was definitely dance floor ready! “Epiphany” has a cooler, and at times more introspective vibe, but its’ kinetic rhythms, echoing vocal samples, and slowly warping arpeggiation still make it perfect for late-night activity.

The animated video for the cut is directed by Theo Nunn. Describing his efforts, he explains that it is a “breadcrumb trail to collective transcendence.” When first discussing the inspiration behind his new 12″ this past July, Ross From Friends’ Felix Clary Weatherall explained that he wanted to create the sense of a “desolate physical and social landscape.” Nunn’s video follows suit as it leads us on an after-hours tour of an empty lab space called the Bardo. While the evidence of human activity is all around, there’s not a person in sight. Describing this tour, the director explains:

“Through our journey, we follow the traces that chart the transformation of a culture, it’s abandoning of scientific conventional progress and the evolution of a musical enlightenment and psychedelic renaissance.”

Ross From Friends will kick off a tour of North America this coming September in Boston. You can check out all the upcoming dates after the YouTube embed below…
