Sonic Boom has a new video for the track “The Way That You Live” off his upcoming LP All Things Being Equal due out via Carpark Records on June 5th. The project of prolific musician Peter Kember, his career started when he and Jason Pierce (Spiritualised) formed the psych/soul band Spaceman 3 in 1982. When that project dissolved, Kember would go on to perform under the moniker Sonic Boom releasing his Spectrum LP in 1990.

The album title would go on to be the name for a new Kember project that would find him pursuing his growing interest in synthesis and modular devices. Spectrum released several albums in the nineties including 1992’s Soul Kiss (Glide Divine), 1994’s Highs, Lows, and Heavenly Blows, as well as a 1999 collaboration with psych/synth pioneers Silver Apples entitled A Lake of Teardrops.

Continuing on, Kember would form the experimental project E.A.R. The group’s fluctuating line-up would include among its many members Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) and electronic music trailblazer Delia Derbyshire, who would go on to mentor the musician/producer in audio physics and harmonic series. Sonic Boom’s growing interest in production has also seen him work with the likes of MGMT, Beach House, and Panda Bear in the intervening years.

Recently, Kember has relocated to Sintra, Portugal and the warmer sunny climes can be heard on Sonic Boom’s upcoming LP All Things Being Equal. The album’s first two singles “Just Imagine,” and this newer offering “The Way That You Live,” demonstrate that the musician’s long-standing interest in the psychedelic imagination is still very much intact! Below you can watch a trippy new video for “The Way That You Live” directed by Roland van der Velden, and it should be just the key you need to unlock those inner doors of perception…
