Altra is a Charlottesville-based electronic duo featuring musician, instrument designer, and mastering engineer Travis Thatcher (Voice of Saturn) as well as Leon Bison’s Alex Christie. The pair is currently readying their LP VISEX for release on September 4th via the Atlanta label DKA Records. In anticipation of the upcoming effort, Altra has a new video for their track “a)to(c_5}s.”
The cut features some seriously punishing and glitched weirdness as Thatcher and Christie’s interconnected modular devices reroute and feedback into chaotic shapes of sonic terror. With a pummeling kick to focus the destruction, ear-searing industrial textures rip through the air alongside granulated squelches and liquid metal squiggles. The video for the track composites food-related footage with audio-triggered effects for a kaleidoscopic trip down the rabbit (k)hole.
