Thurston Moore “Siren”

Thurston Moore returns this month with a new video for his track “Siren,” from the guitarist/vocalist’s upcoming LP By The Fire due out September 25th via The Daydream Library Series. The album will include solo efforts as well as songs recorded with Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine) on bass and backing vocals, Jon Leidecker aka ‘Wobbly’ (Negativland) on electronics, James Sedwards on guitar, and Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley, as well as Jem Doulton, alternating on drums.

Clocking in at just over 12-minutes, and with lyrics written by Radieuxe Radio, “Siren” is is an ecstatic guitar jam seemingly imbued with the place in which it was written, a “secret mermaid cove on The Adriatic in Vasto, Italy.” Radiant guitar lines give way to shimmering pools of percussion before Moore invokes his Siren with “calm rapture on her face.” The video follows suit with gorgeous footage shot on location, a swimming mermaid, and plenty of groovy filmic compositing.
