The Brooklyn-based quintet Clone has joined forces with the New Zealand trio Swallow the Rat to release an 8-track split 12″ due out May 21st via Headbump Records. The two bands met will sharing a stage in Queens, NYC, in March of 2020. Unfortunately, with both projects just getting set to tour the US, that night together would prove to be their last performance before quarantine. Fortunately, they made good use of their time and subsequently decided to release a split 12″ featuring four songs from each group. Both bands had just gotten done recording EPs, so the opportunity was perfect for consolidating their efforts.

Below you can listen to the Clone track “Speak, Memory” and Swallow the Rat’s “Preservation Plan.” Fans of late ’80s, early ’90s indie rock will find much to love here! With echos of Sonic Youth, Pavement, Swervedriver, and Joy Division, these are two bands to keep an on.
