Joel Shanahan returns under his Golden Donna moniker with a 6-track EP entitled “The Damage Has Been Done,” out October 19th via the San Francisco label Silva Electronics. The prolific Portland-based producer explains that the EP’s title came to him a few years back during a period of “personal hells and ugly changes.” The title track reflects that with triggered loops sending nervous shivers as Shanahan dials the anxiety to 11 with hard pounding kicks and gnarly tangles of percussion. Sounding something like the defragging of a sick robot, this cut is a sonic hellstorm of mangled synths and wicked low-end.
