New Video: Date Palms “Yuba Reprise”

479

A gorgeous, rural ambience drones from Date Palms‘ “Yuba Reprise“, and one has the feeling of watching a giant glowing sun set as Marielle Jakobsons‘ violin and Michael Elrod‘s tanpura radiate a majestic calm. Like some sort of crepuscular raga, the track is imbued with a sense of the organic as it’s drones create wide rolling spaces for sun-soaked melodic lines of organ and guitar to slowly unwind into the twilight. Like Date Palms’ video for “Dusted Down“, this one has also been done by the musician and artist Andy Puls, and using analog processing of 35mm film stock it composites heavily solarized desert footage, radiating psychedelic waves, and horses running in bit-crushed black to create quite the eye stew! Look for Date Palms new LP The Dusted Sessions to come out June 11th via Thrill Jockey, with the first 500 being pressed on dusty pink vinyl. Date Palms also have a few upcoming live dates, and you can catch those after the video!
