METZ have a killer new video for “Get Off“, featuring animation from Chad Van Gaalen. We’ve long been a fan of Van Gaalen’s surreal, amorphous animations in which all “matter” is subject to his imaginative and bizarre permutations. For “Get Off”, he reigns things in a bit to tell the story of how Smahmpy became The Flying Retriever. Set in a junkyard in the near future, Smahmpy begins the video as some sort of alien chupacabra, but when things aren’t quite looking up for him, he’s able to activate his space-age collar and transform into a menacing bio-mass, before exiting the video as a very happy looking, flying dog! METZ have a bunch of North American and European dates this summer, including playing at Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee in Seattle on July 13th. You can check out the dates after the video.
