Hailing from Kansas City, Bloodbirds are a 3-piece consisting of husband and wife Mike and Brooke Tuley (AD Astra Arkestra), and bassist Anna St. Louis. The songs on their self-released debut Psychic Surgery are moody, ragged and straddle the blurred line between darker post punk and noise rock. Principle tracking for the record was done at Junior’s Motel in Iowa, and the album mixes slow, gloomy burners with guitar-driven, atonal scorchers that bring to mind bands such as Mission of Burma or Sonic Youth.
