You might not expect the young stars of an Afghan Whigs‘ video to be wearing jackets that read “I Am Hip-Hop”, or that the video for a track about a Mexican town plagued by Satanic murders would be shot in a NYC subway car, but that’s just what happens in this new visual treatment for “Matamoros“. Directed by the band’s longtime video collaborator Philip Harder, here he follows a crew of street dancers as they entertain passengers on the train, and this cut’s seductive groove provides an excellent soundtrack for these tightly shot, and kinetic images. The Afghan Whigs are currently touring Europe in support of their 2014 LP Do to the Beast (Sub Pop), but they will be back on the road in the US later in August. Check the dates below…
