Just in time for the 4th, Marissa Nadler has a new video for “Firecrackers” off her exceptional 2014 LP July out now on Sacred Bones. On this darkly tuned love song, Nadler’s already enchanting voice seems to have reached new levels of confidence and maturity–just her songwriting continues to cast it’s spellbinding poetry.
The video for the track is directed by Ryan Walsh. Using the song’s strong imagery as its lead, Walsh concentrates on basic ritualistic sorts of activities, using a grainy footage to give the video its “lost in the time of memories” feel. Walsh reports that “Firecrackers” was filmed “all over Massachusetts,” adding that he and Nadler were focused on using special effects that had a very “homegrown, lo-fi” quality to them.
