Quite a powerful collaborative nexus comes together here with Peaking Lights‘ track “Little Flower“. Named after St. Thérèse of Lisieux, “The Little Flower of Jesus”, and containing the saint’s powerful novena–spoken by the actress Chloe Sevigny–the song was commissioned by the legendary French sonic impresario Michel Gaubert. The famed tastemaker, whose musical collection is reported to include over 60,000 CDs, 20,000 vinyl records, as well as hundreds of thousands of songs stored on a Mac and RAID drives, provides music for runway shows by top of the line designers like Fendi, Michael Kors, Gucci, and Chanel, to name a few. “Little Flower”, in particular, was commissioned for the perfume company Regime des Fleurs, and it looks as though additional versions have been done by musicians like Johnny Jewel, The Love & Trust Collective, SoulWax, and more. Peaking Lights fills the track’s lovely melody with a gentle, uplifting energy, buoyed by rolling house beats, as Chloe Sevigny intones “Little Flower” with quiet devotion. Quite supplicating, indeed!
