Texas-based producer, DJ, label owner Gavin Guthrie returns to Medical Records/Transfusions under his TX Connect moniker with a new 12″ “Mutant Waves” out now. Guthrie’s outstanding 2xLP The Totality came out on Medical last year, and he follows up that double platter of electronic goodness with 3-tracks of darkly hued techno.
The cuts here reportedly memorialize a Texas party night that happened early in the winter of 2018. While Guthrie’s Totality release last year dipped into genres like Industrial, EBM, and Acid House, on this TX Connect 12″ the producer focuses on tightly knit techno via his analog-driven Acid inclinations. The resulting tracks are some of Guthrie’s most complex and satisfying to date as they spool out multi-tiered cogs of acidic melody, moody atmospherics, and sweaty rhythm.
